Violet Hour is a recurring daydream brought to life for owner and founder Amy Gilday. After 16 years of practicing law, Amy left her job to become a florist. She grew up learning about flowers and plants from her mom, Gail, whose love of gardening and floral design were contagious and who patiently shared her self-taught knowledge and skills. Amy designed and created wedding florals for friends and family over the years, and never felt so alive as when immersed in that process. She attended FlowerSchool New York’s floral design program, worked as a freelancer with various New York floral designers, and began taking on her own clients. Now, with the love and support of her amazing wife, two spoiled cats, and dear friends and family, Amy has realized her dream of opening her own floral design shop in her beloved home of Brooklyn, NY. She’s never been happier.

Amy’s design style is elegant but playful, with a bit of a vintage vibe, focusing on texture in addition to color and shape to create lush and sensually engaging arrangements. That said, Violet Hour is agile and designs florals in a variety of styles to suit each client’s unique aesthetic.
